It’s Not Fair: When Your Heart Wants To Stay But Your Mind Can’t Forget

July 04, 20254 min read

“This isn’t fair.”

The thought comes, unbidden, while you watch him sleep. He looks peaceful. Untroubled. Meanwhile, your mind is a carousel of torture, spinning endlessly through images you never asked to see, conversations you never wanted to imagine, moments you can’t un-know.

The worst part? He’s doing “everything right” now. He’s transparent. Attentive. Remorseful. He’s trying.

And somehow, that makes it harder.

Because while he’s taking steps forward, you’re still bleeding from the wounds he left behind. While he’s ready to “move on,” you’re still finding pieces of your shattered trust beneath your feet. While he’s sleeping soundly, you’re drowning in questions that have no answers:

How do you trust arms that once held another?

How do you kiss lips that spoke lies?

How do you build a future on ground zero?

Your friends don’t understand. “If you’re staying, why can’t you just move forward?” they ask, as if healing from betrayal is as simple as flipping a switch. As if choosing to stay means the pain should magically disappear.

They don’t see you in the quiet moments:

- When a random song on the radio sends you spiraling

- When a familiar perfume in a crowded store makes you nauseated

- When his business trip feels like a noose around your throat

- When his touch, which used to feel like home, now feels like a question mark

Let me tell you what nobody else will: You’re not crazy. You’re not “stuck.” You’re not “choosing to stay in pain.”

You’re navigating the most complex journey a heart can take — loving someone who broke it.

  • It’s not fair that his moment of weakness became your lifetime of work.

  • It’s not fair that his choices left you with the harder path.

  • It’s not fair that choosing love feels like choosing pain.

But here’s what I need you to know:

  1. Your healing doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s.

  2. Your timeline doesn’t need anyone’s approval.

  3. Your pain doesn’t have an expiration date.

  4. Your love doesn’t invalidate your anger.

  5. You can be committed to your marriage AND still struggle to trust.

  6. You can love him deeply AND still feel triggered.

  7. You can choose to stay AND still honor your pain.

  8. You can work on forgiveness AND still have days where it feels impossible.

Some days you’ll feel like you’re drowning in triggers. Other days, you’ll catch glimpses of the love you’re fighting for, bright and pure despite the shadows.

- Both are part of the journey.

- Both deserve to be honored.

To every wife who’s choosing to stay:

Your strength isn’t in pretending it doesn’t hurt.

Your strength is in feeling everything — the love, the pain, the hope, the fear — and staying anyway.

Your strength is in rebuilding, even while bleeding.

Your strength is in choosing love, not because it’s easy, but because it’s worth the fight.

This isn’t the path you would have chosen. But you’re walking it with a grace that takes my breath away. Even on the days when you feel anything but graceful. Even on the days when staying feels impossible. Even on the days when love feels like the hardest choice you’ve ever made.

You’re not just saving your marriage.

You’re becoming someone who knows exactly what she’s capable of surviving.

And that kind of strength?

That’s the kind they write legends about.

Keep going, brave heart...

You matter.

Your pain matters.

Your journey matters.

Your healing matters

And you don’t have to figure this out alone.

I’m opening up five 60-minute Clarity Call spots this week specifically for wives who:

- Have chosen to stay but are drowning in triggers

- Feel like they’re doing all the emotional heavy lifting

- Are tired of hearing “aren’t you over it yet?”

- Need their pain to be truly seen and understood

- Want to heal but don’t know how to make it feel “fair”

During your private Clarity Call, we’ll:

- Unpack why you’re carrying the heavier burden (and how to change that)

- Identify what’s really keeping you stuck in pain

- Create a clear path forward for BOTH of you to do the work

This isn’t a therapy session.

This is about making your healing journey feel fair again.

Only 5 spots available this week. When they’re gone, they’re gone.

P.S. If you’re thinking “but what if I’m not ready?” — that’s exactly why you need this call. Book it now. You’ve carried this alone long enough.

Where Did Our Love Go?
An online video programme for the turbulent months after D-Day

The first 12 months after discovery are when most of the lasting damage is done — and almost none of it by the affair itself. It's done by what happens next. The questions. The searching. The conversations that spiral at midnight. The people who get told. This programme walks you through those weeks: what genuinely helps, what makes things worse, and why so much of the advice you'll find online will hurt you right now.

Includes: 45 minutes of private coaching with Pete when you finish (value £250).

£500 or two payments of £300. 14-day guarantee.
