VIDEO: Gay Couple With Their Son Starring Campbell’s Soup Ads
New Campbell’s Soup campaign “Made for Real, Real Life” starred Larry Sullivan, David Monahan and their adorable son Cooper.
In this film, Monahan and Sullivan are feeding their son Cooper spoonfuls of the Star War themed Campbell’s Soup, and trying to do their best impersonation of Darth Vader saying “I am your father”.
Vice president of marketing activation from Campbell’s, Yin Woon Rani, told to Advertising Age that the goal behind the campaign is to show how American families are diverse, and also to add “a wink and a smile” to the brand’s message.
This is not the first commercial that Monahan and Sullivan casted. But their son Cooper might become professional actor too, like his two dads.
The married couple starred together in a Sabra Hummus commercial in May. They were also involved in a Target commercial with their son Cooper, in 2014.
Sullivan told Towleroad how they won the hummus ad in May: “They were looking for chemistry and history more than anything and I guess we just had that, naturally, after almost 14 years together. They weren’t trying to make any kind of statement or anything, we just got the job as ‘another couple in one of the vignettes.’ I love how much things are changing… have changed. Let’s hope we keep moving forward.”
