ISIS executes 10 for being gay in Syria
Islamic State militants executed nine men and a boy accused of being gay in Syria on Monday (21 September), a monitoring group has said.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the jihadists shot dead seven men in Rastan, a town in central Syria, ‘after accusing them of being homosexual.’
Two men and a boy – his age is not known – were also executed in the northern town of Hreitan for the same reason, Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman told AFP.
He said the executions were carried out in public but IS fighters destroyed any cameras that had been used to film the killings.
ISIS has branded LGBTI people ‘the worst of all creatures’ and claimed responsibility for the executions at least 30 gay men.
Last month, the United Nations Security Council heard from two gay men who had fled the terror group.
‘ISIS are also professional when it comes to tracking gay people,’ said one of the survivors.
‘They hunt them down one by one. When they capture people, they go through his phone and his contacts and Facebook friends. They are trying to track down every gay man. And it’s like dominoes. If one goes, the others will be taken down too.’

Linda Harvey: Fight for gay rights, not climate change
Linda Harvey, Mission: America, is incandescent that President Obama “continues to exalt the climate-change agenda above actual global crises,” meaning the “crises” of gay rights and reproductive freedom.
“Disease, emotional trauma, mutilation, family division, domestic violence and self-harm follow in the wake of LGBTQ identities and reproductive rights”. Harvey published her column in WorldNetDaily. She said: “There’s no way to disguise or adequately manage the wreckage left in the wake of these unnatural, life-rejecting behaviors.”
She is warning that “our culture’s current embrace of sexual licence is an environmental disaster”, the Religious Right activist declared that “the Gulf oil spill is pond scum in comparison.”
Linda Harvey is furious about US fighting for climate change and leaving gay rights behind, and called for rethinking of ‘sustainability’ word.
She said: “If you still have your children in a public school, you might want to have a talk with them about the true meaning of ‘sustainability’. Or you may want to call your kids who are off at college. Will any of those university courses on their ‘green’ campuses assign students a project to evaluate the carbon footprint of a ‘gay pride’ parade? Or and abortion clinic?”

Vladimir Putin denied he talked with Sir Elton John over the phone
Sir Elton John claimed he spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin over the phone, but Putin denied they ever talked over the phone about gay rights.
The president’s spokesman said: “Putin did not have a conversation with Elton John, and, what’s more, we have not received any requests from him for a meeting.”
“The president has always been open to discuss human rights issues. The president, I’m sure, will be ready to meet with Elton John, too, if there is such a request.” He added.
Social media post appeared on Elton’s profile in which he thanked the Russian leader for “reaching out and speaking via telephone with me today”. Without actually explaining what they talked about, it finished: “I look forward to meeting with you face to face to discuss LGBT equality in Russia.”
A spokesperson for the Elton John Aids Foundation is avoiding requests for comment on the subject.
An LGBT activist, Yuri Gavrikov, said a meeting between John and Putin could have a positive effects.
He told the Govorit Moskva radio station: “Water wears away stone. Any statement in the public space by some significant person or another changes the views of both politicians and people. So it’s not worth waiting for manna from heaven, but I think we can expect another push to somehow change the situation in Russia.”

High school suspended gay student for wearing ‘provocative’ T-shirt
A gay student was suspended from high school after refusing to take off her “Nobody Knows I’m a Lesbian” T-shirt.
Brianna Popour said that she wore it to reach out to others who may be struggling to come out. But when she came to Chesnee High School, in South Carolina, she claims she was told to take off the shirt or to go home.
She refused to take off the shirt, and argued that there was nothing in the school’s dress code that she violated wearing it. But anyway, she was suspended.
Brianna stated to WSPA: “I’ve worn this shirt before and nobody’s ever said anything.”
According to WCBD 2 News: “[dress code states] clothing deemed distracting, revealing, overly suggestive or otherwise disruptive will not be permitted.”
Brianna’s mother, Barbara Popour, told WSPA: “[the school administrator] does not like people in his school wearing anything that says anything about lesbians, gays, or bisexuals.”
Director of the Children, Youth and Family Program, Ellen Kahn, at Human Rights Campaign Foundation, condemned the school’s act saying “it’s quite an extreme measure”.
She told Dailymail.com: “It’s not only hurtful to Brianna who was simply expressing who she is. But it creates a much more hostile and tense environment for other LGBT students, and other students who want to be more supportive.”

Brent Randall has lost his race for a seat on the city council in Goshen, Indiana.
The Republican candidate Brent Randall was outed during the campaign when it surfaced that he has a profile on a gay dating site that he keeps active.

Caitlyn Jenner Changes View On Gay Marriage: ‘Everyone’ Should Wed The ‘Person They Love’
Does Caitlyn Jenner finally support gay marriage? After sounding like she was against the idea on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show,’ Cait took to her blog to say that everyone should be able to marry the ‘person they love.’
Many fans questioned whether Caitlyn Jenner, 65, was really in favor of gay marriage after an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Sept. 8. Ellen actually called Caitlyn out and said, “It’s funny cause you’re still kind of a little not on board with it,” after the I Am Cait star offered her tepid support for gay people being allowed to marry. Now, the former Olympic gold medal winner has taken to her blog to clarify her thoughts on the subject.
“Like many people, there was a time when I didn’t realize how important it is for gay couples to have the right to get married. But after hearing from my gay friends and learning more about the hardships they faced because of discrimination, it became clear to me that everyone should be able to marry the person they love,” she wrote one her website CaitlynJenner.com. We love that Caitlyn made such a strong statement.
“She still has a judgment about gay marriage,” DeGeneres told Stern. “And I said, ‘You’re wanting people to understand and accept you…and you still have a judgment about gay people and marriage.’ “

Sir Elton John and Vladimir Putin planning to fix a date to discuss LGBT rights
LGBT rights will be discussed by Sir Elton John and Vladimir Putin in an open dialogue.
Sir Elton John fell victim to a hoax earlier this year after he asked Putin, despite his large fallowing in Russia.
After he was subjected to a hoax call from a fake Putin, the real Putin got in touch to discuss LGBT rights – and offered to meet with the singer in future.
Sir Elton said: “I’ve talked to him on the telephone – we’re trying to arrange a date when I can go to Moscow and talk to him.”
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin had to go above and beyond to convince Sir Elton that the real Putin did want to talk, after the hoax call.
He said: “At first [Sir Elton John] hesitated.
“We decided to ask Russian Ambassador to London Alexander Yakovenko to get in touch with the musician and tell him about the phone call.
“In the beginning, Yakovenko had certain problems to explain to the musician that he was really the Russian ambassador and that the real president of Russia wanted to talk to him.”
Sir Elton added: “I feel very honoured that he wants to see me and he’s put the olive branch out and it’s essential that I do go over there and just put my foot in the water and see what we can do change the situation for LGBT people in Russia.
“Even though the Russians say it’s great it is very very, it’s not great at all. But you know, as I said, I want to try and knock the wall down a little bit, so I will be trying to go and see him.
“He was very pleasant on the phone, he apologised for the fake interview I did. He was very genial and I was very very impressed.”
