Munich have good times to offer for gay travelers

Munich, Germany – is often overlooked by gay travelers because of Berlin’s infamous decadence. They love leather pants and closeted 19th-century Bavarian monarch Ludwig II. Munich has a throwback charm unique from artistic Berlin.

Dietmar Holzapfel, and his husband Josef Sattler, says hospitality in Munich has long extended to members of the LGBT community.

“Our former mayor Christian Ude was the patron of Pride 22 years ago, when other politicians didn’t dare do this. Munich was also the first city in Europe to host the IGLTA (International Gay and Lesbian Travel Alliance) convention.” He explained.

With an LGBT festivals almost every month, Munich is a party that never stops. Even Oktoberfest turns one massive tent over to gay brew enthusiasts.

You can find gay quarter, Glockenbachviertel, located not far from old city Altstadt, with lots of shops, bars and restaurants.

Holzapfel and Sattler’s joint are boasting sophisticated, modern rooms at reasonable prices and a fashionable bar/restaurant. Hotel Deutsche Eiche is overcrowded with LGBT travelers.

Sunbathing at the Isar River in warm weather is like a tradition in Munich, and also a good time for travelers. The Flaucher area is especially popular within gay community.

Real-life gay dads and their kid featured in adorable commercial for Campbell’s Star Wars Soup

If the gay dads in a new Campbell’s Soup commercial seem to have a natural chemistry with the child in the spot – and with each other – it’s because they are a real-life family.

Larry Sullivan and David Monahan and their son Cooper are the stars of a charming spot for the soup giant’s Star Wars offering. Each dad gives his best to channel James Earl Jones as the Darth Vadar’s voice they tell Cooper: ‘I am your Father.’

The spot is one of few with the tagline ‘Made for Real, Real Life.’

Yin Woon Rani, Campbell’s VP-marketing activation, tells Ad Age that the family was so appealing that their planned 15 second spot was extended to also include around 30 second version.

‘We use this phrase internally of this notion of “moment telling,” Woon Rani says. ‘We wanted to tell just very simple, telegraphic stories that didn’t always need the space of a :30. It was sort of a lucky extra because that story just ended up being so rich and so endearing.’

I choose you! This gay Pokémon proposal is too cute for words

One loved-up guy was planning to pop the question to his Pokémon-loving boyfriend.

Tumblr user Brett Graham became a true Pokemon Master when popping the question to his partner Max in a truly epic style.

Pokemon adventures begin with a single choice – usually between a a water type, fire type, and a grass type.

When Brett decided to propose to Max, he decided their life adventure should begin in the same way- custom-designing three ‘starter’ rings and Pokéballs to hold them.

He explained: “It took me a while to figure out the right way to propose to Max, but I’m pretty damned proud of what I came up with.

A ‘fire type’ starter which is black with a red gem, and a ‘water type’ starter with a mother of pearl inlay. “A ‘grass type’ starter with a wooden inlay.

“I’ve been scheming like a madman for months.
Brett added: “Max, for his part, has been telling me pretty much every day since we’ve started that he’s going to marry me. Somehow, I was still nervous when it came time to ask about making that official.

“At the beginning of every adventure, you need to pick a partner. I chose him. So, I figured if he said yes, he could decide what to wear on his finger.

Max picked a Fire type and of course said yes.

Next big surprise is already being planned by Brett.

He said of the other two rings: “He gets those, too. The significance of the choice is that whatever he picked as his official starter will ‘evolve’ at milestone anniversaries. I got plans.”

We’re just glad a rival didn’t come along and take the one of the other rings.

The United States has had a LOT of weddings since Supreme Court ruling

It was estimated that nearly one million Americans are in same-sex marriages by the pollster.

After the June 26 Supreme Court ruling that cemented same-sex marriage across all 50 states, a Gallup estimate this week estimated that 972,000 Americans are now in a same-sex marriage – with approximately 200,000 of those have been married fallowing the ruling.

Along with data from the Williams Institute estimating that 3.5% of Americans identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual, the estimate was calculated using data from thousands of interviews with LGBT Americans before and after the ruling..

Since 26 of June there have been 96000 same-sex marriages ending in total of 972000 American’s in the same-sex marriages.

Gary J. Gates from Gallup suggested that the nationwide adoption of same-sex marriage would fundamentally change the face of lesbian, gay and bisexual relationships, saying “If those trends continue, marriage will soon overtake domestic partnerships as the more common relationship status among committed same-sex couples.”

Obergefell v. Hodges. The 5-4 ruling forced all 50 states to recognise same-sex marriages and protect LGBT citizens’ right to marry in “mega-case” testimonies after which Supreme Court ruled in favour of marriage equality earlier this year.

‘I’ve never had a boyfriend so I don’t really know any different, which I think is very lucky actually. I’m still learning on what’s right and what’s normal in dates,’ he said.

‘I think with anyone, you have to learn how to trust people and there’s different challenges and hurdles in my life now but I’m trying to remain as normal as I was before.’

Asked if he was ready for a relationship, Sam said: ‘Is anyone ready for a relationship? Who knows? I’ve been single for 23 years so I don’t know. It’s going to take something.’

He was previously linked to dancer Jonathan Ziezel, but their relationship has never been confirmed. He only ever referred to him as ‘someone he was seeing’, and stopped seeing him in January of this year.

Boy George: ‘I slept with Prince’

Boy George has said he has slept with Prince.

During the show’s live audition stage the Voice coach made the claim in front of a studio audience, bringing production to a halt.

‘[It] sent the audience absolutely wild and forced producers to stop filming,’ an insider told The Sun.

Boy George talked with the other UK Voice coaches Will.i.am, Kaiser Chiefs’ Ricky Wilson and singer Paloma Faith on the subject of who they’d all duetted with in the past.

The gay singer-songwriter said: ‘I have duetted with some of the greatest soul singers in history including Luther Vandross and Smokey Robinson.’

Paloma responded: ‘Well OK, if we’re throwing big soul names out there I’ve performed with Prince.’

To which Boy George replied: ‘Forget that, darling, I’ve slept with Prince.’

The crowd went wild, the source said: ‘Production staff had to come up on stage and speak to them.

‘After that, Boy George started backtracking saying that he hadn’t really slept with Prince and that, he just had his poster on his wall in reality.

‘But as far as the crowd were concerned the cat was already out of the bag.’

The Voice UK returns in January on BBC 1.

CORRECTED-Family watches as gay rights battle hits world theaters in “Freeheld”

“It’s overwhelming, it’s painful, but overall it brought relief to know that everything that she fought for is going out to a wider audience,” said her sister Lynda Hester D’Orio.

Had Hester not died at age 49, her legacy would have been a “quiet, personal one” helping others, her sister said.

Now “Freeheld” has been turned into a feature film, with Oscar-winning actress Moore as Hester, the police officer reluctant to be in the limelight but set on getting justice for her partner, played by Page.

“She did not want to be the poster woman for gay marriage. She did not want to be the person out in front of the gay pride parade,” said her brother Jim Hester. “She was about doing what was right and what was fair.”

“It’s going to change some minds… but it also is going to make some people dig in their heels a little more deeply and become a little more mean-spirited and say bad things about Laurel and Stacie,” he said.

The fight over Hester’s pension seems almost antiquated given the advances in gay rights, said Wade, who made the “Freeheld” documentary.

“The country is really different than it was 10 years ago when she was fighting this, and it’s because of people like Laurel,” she said.

Arizona to pay $200,000 to lawyers who won gay marriage case

PHOENIX – Lawyers who persuaded a judge nearly a year ago to overturn Arizona’s same-sex marriage ban will receive $200,000 from the state to cover attorney fees and other costs in bringing the legal challenge.

Federal law lets those who prevail in civil rights cases seek compensation for the costs of bringing such lawsuits to court.

The decision on the Arizona law came after gay marriage bans were struck down in more than two dozen states.

Then, the U.S. Supreme Court declared this summer that same-sex couples have a right to marry in all 50 states.

Arizona lawmakers approved a state law barring same-sex marriages in 1996.

Seven years later, an Arizona appeals court upheld the constitutionality of the law.

Voters in 2008 amended the Arizona Constitution to include a ban.

Anti-gay marriage Oregon bakery defies state order to pay damages to couple

Owners of bakery refuse to pay $135,000 to a same-sex couple who were denied service, despite having raised more than $500,000 via crowdfunding

The couple closed the Gresham store in 2013 and now operate the business from home.

“It’s difficult to understand the Kleins’ unwillingness to pay the debt when they have, very publicly, Wednesday.

“They are entitled to a full and fair review of the case, but do not have the right to disregard a legally binding order.”

A lawyer for the Kleins, Anna Harmon, told the Oregonian she couldn’t comment about her clients’ actions, citing the ongoing litigation.

A 2007 Oregon law protects the rights of gays, lesbians, bisexual and transgender people in employment, housing and public accommodations. It provides an exemption for religious organizations, but the agency ruled that exemption does not allow private businesses to discriminate against potential customers.
