Vladimir Putin denied he talked with Sir Elton John over the phone
Sir Elton John claimed he spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin over the phone, but Putin denied they ever talked over the phone about gay rights.
The president’s spokesman said: “Putin did not have a conversation with Elton John, and, what’s more, we have not received any requests from him for a meeting.”
“The president has always been open to discuss human rights issues. The president, I’m sure, will be ready to meet with Elton John, too, if there is such a request.” He added.
Social media post appeared on Elton’s profile in which he thanked the Russian leader for “reaching out and speaking via telephone with me today”. Without actually explaining what they talked about, it finished: “I look forward to meeting with you face to face to discuss LGBT equality in Russia.”
A spokesperson for the Elton John Aids Foundation is avoiding requests for comment on the subject.
An LGBT activist, Yuri Gavrikov, said a meeting between John and Putin could have a positive effects.
He told the Govorit Moskva radio station: “Water wears away stone. Any statement in the public space by some significant person or another changes the views of both politicians and people. So it’s not worth waiting for manna from heaven, but I think we can expect another push to somehow change the situation in Russia.”

Fired Priest: No ‘Gay Lobby’ in Vatican
“I met homosexual priests, often isolated like me … but no gay lobby,” Monsignor Krzysztof Charamsa (pictured above) told an Italian TV station in an interview broadcast Sunday, reports Agence France-Presse. Charamsa was fired from the Vatican press office just weeks ago after speaking to an Italian newspaper about his identity and his relationship.
Earlier in 2013, Pope Francis told a group of Latin American church leaders that there is indeed a “gay lobby” in the Vatican. A report commissioned by the previous pope, Benedict XVI, alleged there was a Vatican-connected gay network that met in and around Rome.
“There exists a convent where priests who manifest inappropriate sexual tendencies are sent to reflect,” 44-year-old Mario Bonfanti told the newspaper. “It’s a place where they help you to rediscover the straight and narrow. They wanted to ‘cure’ me but I refused to go.”
Catholic officials acknowledged the existence of the convent outside Milan, but would not address the specific nature of the issues addressed at the Venturini Convent.
“Priests come to us for a period of formation and personal reflection. At the moment we have neither gay priests nor pedophile priests here,” Father Gianluigi Pasto, 71, the head of the convent, told U.K. newspaper The Telegraph. “Certainly our job is to welcome everybody.”

Arizona to pay $200,000 to lawyers who won gay marriage case
PHOENIX – Lawyers who persuaded a judge nearly a year ago to overturn Arizona’s same-sex marriage ban will receive $200,000 from the state to cover attorney fees and other costs in bringing the legal challenge.
Federal law lets those who prevail in civil rights cases seek compensation for the costs of bringing such lawsuits to court.
The decision on the Arizona law came after gay marriage bans were struck down in more than two dozen states.
Then, the U.S. Supreme Court declared this summer that same-sex couples have a right to marry in all 50 states.
Arizona lawmakers approved a state law barring same-sex marriages in 1996.
Seven years later, an Arizona appeals court upheld the constitutionality of the law.
Voters in 2008 amended the Arizona Constitution to include a ban.

Zimbabwe Activist Vows to Fight for Gay Rights Despite Mugabe Broadside
“Despite all these challenges and the speech by President Mugabe on Monday at the United Nations against gays, I will continue to fight for the rights of all our members,” said Samba.
“I feel honoured to be recognized for the work we are doing in Zimbabwe, although the road has not been easy but like any other person in the country we also want our basic human rights respected,” said Samba.
He said his father confronted him asking why he was a member of that organisation prompting him to share his secret and come out.
“After I came out my family was very supportive and have been ever since. I feel free to live the life I have always wanted to without fear of rejection or condemnation from those close to me. I no longer get questioned about why I prefer men or am not married yet,” said Samba
Samba said he would be in the U.S capitol Washington, Wednesday to conduct meetings with organisations fighting for gay rights and other officials, before returning to Zimbabwe.

Shock Therapy To ‘Cure’ Their Sexuality
Gay men are being subjected to electroshock treatment in a bid to ‘cure’ them of their sexual preference, an undercover investigation has found.
Doctors in China were secretly filmed by Channel 4 reporters selling bogus ‘conversion therapy’ treatments for homosexuality for hundreds of pounds.
‘Can you bear this kind of pain? How long can you bear it? If you can really bear with it then you can change,’ one doctor told undercover gay activist John Shen in a consultation at a hospital in Tianjin.
‘Your conditioned reflex is that when you see someone of the same sex, you feel love. Now what I want to make you feel is scared.’
The Xinyu Piaxiang clinic has since had to apologise and pay £360 compensation for offering the treatment, after a landmark ruling in Beijing banning the practice.
Shen, who is deputy director of one of China’s largest gay rights groups, said often parents who are unwilling to accept their child’s sexuality may forced them to undergo the painful treatments.
Another activist went as far as to undergo the shock treatment and can be seen twitching on a hospital bed as an assistant zaps his body.
He claims half his face went numb during the treatment at the Huashan clinic in Tianjin.

Gay party gone wrong in Edo
Gay party was organised in a hotel in Oben community, off Sapele road in Benin City on Tuesday night degenerated into a free for all over allegations that a partner belonging to a particular young man was caught in a compromised position with another male during the party.
It would be recalled that this Act sponsored by Senator Domingo Obende then representing Edo North Senatorial District was one of the few private sponsored bills and were passed and signed by President Goodluck Jonathan in the last Senate.
“We have been suspecting the management of this hotel for some time now because the last time some girls who are lesbians held a party here. We were shocked that no single male was in attendance.”
“But today, I wanted to go and buy a drink at the hotel when a young man walked up to me at the gate and told me that his people have taken over the place. I was shocked to notice that he was putting on tight leggings and wearing red lipstick and wig, so I left the place immediately.”
“It was later in the night that we heard loud noise and saw some boys fighting over another boy thereby attracting the neighbourhood,” the source said.”
It was, however, gathered that before police men on patrol could arrive the scene, most of the boys had absconded.

Obama rips Republican candidates on gay marriage
President Obama on Sunday dismissed Republicans opposed to same-sex marriage as living in another era, saying the national conversation had moved beyond whether gays and lesbians deserve equal marriage rights.
“One of their leading candidates argued that going to prison turns you gay,” Obama said, an apparent reference to Ben Carson, who had claimed that homosexuality in prison is proof that being gay is a choice.
“I’m just stating the facts,” Obama continued. “Another candidate boasts that he introduced an amendment to end nationwide marriage equality. One said he loves the Constitution except for Article 3.”
The President said that “America has left the leaders of the Republican Party behind.”
“We need to reject politicians who are supporting new forms of discrimination as a way to scare up votes,” he added. “That’s not how we move America forward.”
During the event at Gotham Hall, which Democratic donors paid upwards of $33,400 to attend, Obama claimed Republican presidential contenders were pining for an era of economic failure.
“In their world, everything was terrific back in 2008 when we were in the midst of a spiral into the worst financial crisis and economic crisis since the Great Depression, when unemployment and uninsured rates were rising and when our economy was shedding jobs each month, and we were mired in two wars, hopelessly addicted to foreign oil, and bin Laden was still at large,” he said.
“Those were the Golden Years, apparently.“

Mormon Church Banned All Children With Same-Sex Parents
The LDS Church unveiled the new anti-LGBT policy, outlining changes to future versions of the Church handbook.
Eric Hawkins, an LDS Church spokesman, said in his statement: “Church handbooks are policy and procedural guides for lay leaders who must administer the church in many varied circumstances throughout the world.”
“The Church has long been on record as opposing same-sex marriages. While it respects the law of the land, and acknowledges the right of others to think and act differently, it does not perform or accept same-sex marriage within its membership.”
Mormon Church, has introduced a new policy that deems married LGBT couples apostate and prohibits blessing or baptizing children that live in their homes until they turn 18.
According to Eric Hawkins, a spokesman for the church, the decision — which was announced on Thursday afternoon — is effective immediately:
“A natural or adopted child of a parent living in a same-gender relationship, whether the couple is married or cohabiting, may not receive a name and a blessing.”
According to the church’s new policy, the only way a child living in a same-sex household will be allowed to be baptized comes after they turn 18, and they publicly disavow same-sex cohabitation and move out of the household.

Carson Defends His Stance on Homosexuality
Carson made the remark in response to a question from a CNBC debate questioner, during the third Republican presidential debate.
CNBC moderator Carl Quintanilla noted that the national warehouse chain Costco has been identified as one of the most gay friendly employers in the country. Carson had served on the Costco board of directors for more than 16 years when he stepped down in May of this year, when he announced his campaign for president.
Ben Carson, the Republican presidential field’s current frontrunner, said: “Well, obviously, you don’t understand my views on homosexuality. I believe our Constitution protects everybody, regardless of their sexual orientation or any other aspect. I also believe that marriage is between one man and one woman. And there is no reason you can’t be perfectly fair to the gay community.”
“They shouldn’t automatically assume that because you believe marriage is one man and one woman that that you are a homophobe. This is one of the myths that the left perpetuates on our society. This is how they frighten people and get people to shut up. That’s what the PC culture is all about. And it’s destroying this nation. The fact of the matter is we the American people are not each other’s enemies. It’s those people who are trying to divide us that are the enemies.”

Campbell’s Soup Ad Featuring Gay Dads Freaked Out Bigots
This is the Campbell’s Soup advert that freaked out some bigots.
Bigots freaked out when, earlier this month, Campbell’s released an advert featuring two gay dads feeding their son.
Mike Melgaard brilliantly trolled bigots freaking out about Rainbow Doritos and Target’s gender-neutral approach to signage. And he is here again. Melgaard saw the perfect opportunity to once again impersonate a customer service representative on Facebook and respond to those complaining about the ad on the Campbell’s Facebook page.
Thumbs up for Mike Melgaard! Good Job!
