Newly Married Gay Couple Got Their Car Spray-Painted With Homophobic Slurs

Earlier this month, Andrew Windham-Harris found his car vandalized with homophobic slurs like “die fag”, spray-painted and key scratched into the side of the vehicle. The crime happened in some time between 11:30 p.m and 12:30 p.m. Saturday night, in Waynesville, NC when Andrew went into work at a local takeout restaurant in Haywood County.

According to local news affiliate ABC 13:

He had parked his Jeep in the back on one side of the restaurant. Two other cars, he said, were already parked there.

“Mine was the only car that was painted,” Windham-Harris said, who said Haywood deputies working the investigation have been kind.

“They were extremely courteous, they were remorseful,” Windham-Harris said. “He personally felt bad about it, and was flabbergasted that this had happened in Haywood County.” [SNIP]

A repair estimate he said is coming in just under $500. He said his partner is now living in fear of what else could happen to them in the Waynesville area.

Windham-Harris told ABC 13: “This has happened but I’m not going to let it back me down, or have me living in fear. I’m going to go on living my life, my new husband, and my house. And we’re going to keep having the American dream work for us.”

5 Guys Chillin’: Review of the Theatre Play

“5 Guys Chillin’ “ has a great intention, and introducing the back stories of the characters to the audience would provide much more impact overall.

This is the second piece that the Kings Theatre & Pub has staged lately about chemsex. About the phenomenon of gay men using various drugs like crystal meth, mephedrone and GHB during sex. “The Clinic” was the last Patrick Cash’s impressive play.

Those two plays have similar approach. Peter Darney made his script from more than 50 hours of conducted interviews with guys on app like Grindr, talking about their experience with chemsex.

In the beginning, the characters quickly stripped off and went straight for the drugs and sex, injecting, fisting and other things, for about next 80 minutes of non-stop action.

At first, you can’t decide, if this is something real that is happening between gay people, or just a celebration of chemsex. And some of the stories are really graphic, and can inspire some moments of queasiness. But after some time, you actually realise that the Darney wanted to show the grim reality of what is actually going on during this chemsex sessions.

There are some very powerful and impressive moments in the play, like overdose. It was so powerfully staged, and the actors should be commended big time. The back stories of the characters are interesting, and for some complicating, and one of them even spends the whole show in a jockstrap. They play is explicit in every way, for sure.

Our rating for the 5 Guys Chillin’ is:

Derry Deputy Mayor: You get ‘hooked’ into homosexuality like smoking or drinking

Northern Ireland politician said that people can get addicted to homosexuality like they get addicted to cigarettes.

After his party vetoed same-sex marriage in the Northern Irish Assembly, Democratic Unionist Party councillor and Deputy Mayor of Derry and Strabane Thomas Kerrigan made the comments this week.

Kerrigan praised his party for overriding the legislative majority on the issue, claiming: “Woman is made for man and man is made for woman. I would stand on this scripturally and the party has to be honoured for the stand it has taken.

“I believe prayer would change things because really, if you go back to the times of Sodom and Gomorrah, things were on the same basis and the Lord punished them.

“People say you were born with this but I don’t believe that. You get into this and the same as with drink or smoking, you get hooked on it after the first time or second time.

“So I would have to commend my party for standing up.”.

Two-thrids of people in Northern Ireland support same-sex marriage according to recent opinion poll.

He said: “I have seen people come through fairly severe times and they were prayed for and they were turned in a different direction.

“People really think ‘that’s my way of life’ and that is entirely up to them, but I think there is a better way and a more happier way.

“I will go the second mile to help someone see the folly of their ways and it grieves me to see some families with someone gone astray and gone astray very badly against their own parents.”

Australian Leader, Opposing Gay Marriage, Faces Party and Family Opposition

SYDNEY, Australia — Prime minister’s sister is feeling unhappy!!!

About two-thirds of Australians support same-sex marriage, surveys have found. As far as we know many of them are members of Prime Minister Tony Abbott’s Liberal Party — including his sister, Christine Forster, who is on Sydney’s City Council and is gay.

“I would like to get married,” said Ms. Forster, who has been engaged to her partner, Virginia Edwards, since 2013. “And at this point, I cannot.”

Mr. Abbott, a conservative leader who is a polarizing figure at the best of times, is doing badly in the polls, two years after taking office. His position on same-sex marriage is only one factor, but it is one that analysts say goes to the core of his political vulnerability.

Mr. Abbott, a Jesuit-educated Catholic who spent three years studying for the priesthood, has called same-sex marriage a “very deeply personal” issue and one “on which decent people can differ.” He has proposed that Australian voters decide the issue directly, in a referendum or a nonbinding plebiscite. He has been vague about how such a vote would be conducted, but he said that it would probably be held after the next elections.

“I’m just saying that if there is to be change, it should be change that’s owned by the people, not just by the Parliament,” Mr. Abbott said in a radio interview.

For her part, Ms. Forster sees same-sex marriage as entirely consistent with the party’s conservative values. She called it “deeply disappointing” that Liberals were not allowed to vote their conscience on the issue.

“Marriage is a special relationship, and that is why we have legislation around it,” she said. “It is the bedrock of our society. It creates family units. Small government, individual freedom and equality under law are core Liberal values.”

“The view the prime minister holds, that Tony holds, is increasingly one of a minority in Australia, and the majority will decide on this,” she said.

Man in a short shorts was told to cover up by staff member at Disneyland

Anthony Gilét, the editor of Cocktails & Cocktalk, attended an unofficial “Gay Day” at a Disneyland resort in California. He was wearing a short shorts and oversized jersey. Just a few minutes after entering the Disneyland, staff member chased him down and told him to cover up, otherwise he would be asked by security to leave the park, saying that it was a “family park”.

Anthony wrote: “I didn’t want any drama – and certainly didn’t wanna get kicked outta Disney after paying $99 entry – so put on the longer shorts I had in my bag.”

He continued: “But the more I thought about it, I began to question. What exactly was the issue? Was it the fact that there was so much leg on show? Because there were countless girls walking around in booty shorts. How is it any different from a girl in those? Or even a dress? Was she asking women if they had anything on under their short skirts too?”

Anthony concluded: “I fully understand that my outfit was a bit unusual and apparently not conservative enough for Disney – but I’m struggling to see the issue. I wasn’t wearing an offensive slogan, and I had shorts on underneath that weren’t going to expose anything when I sat down.”

“What was the line that had been crossed?”
